The University of Science
and Arts of Oklahoma Foundation, Inc. was organized in 1974 and
incorporated in 1977. The Foundation’s mission is to
financially support an environment where academic excellence and
the highest quality of campus living prevails.
USAO is the only publicly financed liberal arts university in
Oklahoma.
The Full Board of Trustees meets four times per year to determine
the financial status and provide guidance on policy
decisions.
All income for the university's Foundation falls into two basic categories:
restricted and unrestricted funds.
-
Restricted
funds are generally endowed accounts established with a
specific name and purpose. Named funds provide the bulk of
student scholarships.
-
Unrestricted funds may be used for directed projects or vital
services as approved by the Foundation Trustees in
coordination with the President of USAO. The Foundation is
classified by the Internal Revenue Code as a 501(c) (3)
non-profit organization.
